Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Logistics Control Assistant Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the end-to-end movement of materials within the production facility and ensuring the successful implementation of packaging for all production parts. They are responsible for managing material flow processes, deploying material handling equipment, optimizing material handling procedures, establishing internal logistics routing, creating headcount planning, and ensuring packaging solutions of production parts.

  • Coordinates the design of material flow within the automotive production lines to minimize downtime, reduce waste, identify bottlenecks, and increase production efficiency.
  • Establishes man hours calculations and requirements for the Material Handling team while continually improving their processes.
  • Serves as liaison between HMGMA and Hyundai affiliates regarding Production Control billing.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and development of team.
  • Implements Kanban systems to control the flow of materials and trigger reordering when inventory levels reach replenishment thresholds.
  • Removes roadblocks and resolves problems delaying the progress of projects and department milestones.
  • Responsible for implementing, improving, and maintaining the packaging standards from Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Ensures the appropriate material handling equipment (forklifts, tuggers, PDAs, etc.) is procured and delivered according by date of need/use.
  • Supports Material Handling by conducting root cause analysis to eliminate and mitigate issues on manpower, materials, methods, and machine.
  • Responsible for all new model launch milestones related to packaging and material handling activities.
  • Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency, monitor progress, assess performance, and make informed decisions.
  • Continuously evaluates cost reduction improvements in material flow and container packaging.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Preferences

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in material flow, inventory management, internal logistics, and/or supply chain management. (minimum 3 years of managing experience)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite expertise.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to the handling and movement of materials to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to articulate, write, and present clearly to upper management.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • Years of experience in fast paced, high volume automotive industry strongly preferred.
  • Certifications and experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in layout planning using 2D and/or 3D.
  • Diverse knowledge of various packing materials, applications, and design.

 

Working Hours (Shift) Requirement
