Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Logistics Control Industrial Specialists/Associates plays a critical role on optimizing the end-to-end movement of materials within the production facility. They are responsible for establishing material flow processes, implementing material handling equipment, designing value stream mapping, strategizing layout design, establishing internal logistics routing, and headcount planning while maintaining quality and safety standards within the organization. They communicate their findings, recommendation, and progress to management and stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination regarding material flow.

  • Analyzing and improving the material flow within the automotive production lines to minimize downtime, reduce waste, identify bottlenecks, and increase production efficiency.
  • Designing and optimizing the layout of production lines, workstations, and storage areas to facilitate efficient material flow and streamline the assembly process.
  • Developing and implementing inventory control procedures and systems to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste without excess stock.
  • Implementing and maintaining Kanban systems to control the flow of materials and trigger reordering when inventory levels reach replenishment thresholds.
  • Collecting and analyzing data on material flow metrics, such as lead times, cycle times, and throughput, to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions.
  • Applying lean principles, such as Just-In-Time (JIT) production, to eliminate waste, reduce lead times, and streamline processes.
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate material handling equipment, such as conveyor systems, forklifts, tuggers, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs), to optimize and enhance material handling and flow.
  • Ensuring that materials meet quality standards and that defective items are detected and addressed promptly to prevent production delays.
  • Implementing continuous improvement methodologies like Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen to drive ongoing enhancements in material flow processes and efficiency.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities in material handling, storage, and transportation while maintaining high production standards.
  • Ensuring that material flow processes align with sustainability goals and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to material flow processes and improvements.

Qualifications & Preferences

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Exploring, staying updated, and implementing technology solutions, such as RFID tracking and inventory management software, to improve material flow visibility and control.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in material flow, inventory management, procurement, or logistics
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to the handling and movement of materials to maintain a safe work environment.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • Years of experience in fast paced, high volume automotive industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience in layout planning using 2D and/or 3D.

Working Hours (Shift) Requirement

  • Employment opportunities at HMGMA will be completed on multiple phases.
    Shift assignment for this position may change to meet the business needs.

  • Domestic / International travel required.
