Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the management of cost & planning activities as defined by the Purchasing Division Chief Purchasing Officer (CPO) by: 

  • Providing guidance and sharing best practices (experience) with other purchasing staff. 

  • Implementing policies and procedures to ensure efficient and professional operations consistent with corporate vision. 

  • Working collaboratively with the Parts Development team regarding relevant cost data and information. 

  • Lead vehicle level material cost calculations for new development vehicles and report target cost achievement progress to upper management.  

  • Gather and consolidate all vehicle material costs for all HMGMA built vehicles; analyze and report cost variances per vehicle/supplier while ensuring accuracy.  

  • Lead cost management of Complete Knock Down (CKD) parts from overseas including, but not limited to, Korea & China. 

  • Oversee the material cost re-evaluation reporting process including SAP retro-processing and coordinating implementation timelines with Finance. 

  • Manage the overall tooling budget status and new vehicle development planning process. 

  • Measure and report on purchasing team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and progress against goals for various projects. 

  • Lead Purchasing administrative management activities. 

  • Participate in all cost optimization related internal/external meetings as required. 

  • Support part localization activities. 

  • Support Purchasing Management team data request gathering, summary, and reporting as needed. 

  • Meet all other assignments as required. 

 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Work collaboratively with Parts Development Buyers, Engineering (R&D), and Finance. 

  • Maintain up-to-date supply base information database. 

  • Meet all other requirements as assigned. 

 

Qualifications & Preferences 

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in, Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field from accredited university 

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel and PowerPoint, required. 

Preferred: 

  • Intermediate - Minimum 2 years of related job experience  

  • Years of experience from automotive industry in analyzing cost and developing proposals strongly preferred. 

  • Experience from OEM or major commodity suppliers strongly preferred. 

  • Experience in understanding, analyzing, and breaking down piece price. 

  • Bilingual preferred – Ability to read, write, and speak in English and Korean.

Travel Requirement 

  • Domestic / International travel required. 

 

Working Hours (Shift) Requirement
